At Timber & Twine, we believe that the best way to learn is by doing! Inspired by nature, our homestead lessons are designed to give plenty of opportunity for hands-on learning, getting creative and playing outdoors. These drop-off camps are designed for ages 6-12. Campers will make new friends, create fun projects and be given the chance to interact with each type of animal that we are studying.
Come and snuggle fuzzy ducklings, baby bunnies and chirping chicks as we learn about what these creatures need to thrive. We will discover what makes a duck float, why bunnies dig holes and what an egg tooth is. We will build boats and test our builds on the pond, build tunnels for our bunnies and gather eggs from the chickens.
Help us bottle feed our mini goats and learn about the care and keeping of goats. Learn about the process of soap-making and how we turn milk into soap! We will build and test rockets as we study chemical reactions. Each camper will get to create a custom bar of goat milk soap, choosing their own combination of scent and color.
Lets take a hike through the woods and the gardens to identify which bees make honey and which are only pollinators. We will learn what a pollinator is and how they help the garden. Children will be introduced to the gear that a beekeeper uses and the parts of the hive. We will build mason bee homes and learn about the different jobs that bees have in a hive.
Learn about where healthy food comes from as we care for the creatures great and small! We will spend the morning doing farm chores for the tiny baby bunnies all the way up to our large mama cow and all the animals in between. Eggs will be gathered from the chickens and a harvest collected from the garden. We will spend the afternoon crafting and painting farm signs to take home.
Do you have what it takes to survive in the wild? We will build shelters, learn about water purification, knot-tying and fire building. Taking turns with our bows we will see which of us would make good hunters. We will put our skills to the test in a scavenger hunt and special challenges! Campers will come away from camp knowing they are skilled and strong!
To maximize the hands-on experience for each child, class sizes will be limited. Reserve your spot by registering today!
